Giving Back to the Community
At Mountain of the Sun Coffee Ltd, we are dedicated to promoting sustainable farming practices. On our farm, we have planted indigenous, coffee-friendly shade trees and intercropped bananas as a model for farmers in the Mt. Elgon region.
Plant Five Trees Annually
We actively encourage the farmers we work with to plant three to five coffee-friendly trees each year, either on their farms or throughout the region, to support reforestation and sustainable agriculture. This approach fosters environmental sustainability in a cost-effective way while also driving economic growth for the community.
Empowering Farmers (Knowledge is Power)
Through our demonstration farm and educational initiatives, we empower farmers with the knowledge and resources needed to improve the quality and quantity of coffee production in our region, thereby contributing to economic development. We implement this through bi-annual group meetings where we discuss concerns and related solutions.
Supporting Economic Development
We understand the importance of economic development in creating thriving communities. That’s why we prioritize sourcing our coffee beans directly from local farmers in the Mt. Elgon region. By paying fair prices and establishing long-term relationships with our suppliers, we not only ensure the quality of our coffee but also contribute to the economic well-being of the communities we serve.
Community Engagement
We actively engage with our local community through various outreach programs and events. From sponsoring local events to participating in community clean-up initiatives, we are committed to being good neighbors and contributing positively to the social fabric of our community.
